Today’s blog post is a little different. I thought it would be fun to reflect on the past year. As we all know, 2020 was different than any of us could have expected.
One year ago on New Year’s Eve, Kirsten and I launched our website. We toasted champagne and excitedly pushed the launch button. It was so exciting, and I for one was so glad we got through the web design process. It was not easy to navigate to say the least. Ha!
We were ready to take 2020 by storm. We had set some big goals, and while this was exciting for us, it was also a little nerve wracking. I think we both wondered how our 2020 year would go for us.
We hit the ground running in January and business was good. We were working with fun clients and getting new inquiries.
We all know what comes next. March hits and the world is turned upside down. What started out as a 2-week break from school, turned into our kiddos being home full time through the rest of the year. Suddenly we each had 2 boys home with us needing to do school from home. We stopped taking clients and tried to come up ways to get through what life was throwing at us.
While not ideal, we made it work. Thank goodness for technology. We would Facetime our work sessions when we could, and we got really good at getting a lot of work done in a short amount of time. We pushed through and balanced life as best as we could. Summer came and we continued to grow business wise despite the global pandemic.
When we eventually learned that our kids weren’t going back in the fall, it was time for some more problem solving. One of us was homeschooling and the other was navigating virtual school. We moved to seeing clients in the evening as that was the only time we could make work with kids home during the day.
Thankfully we have super kind clients who worked around our availability. We had a very busy and fun fall. We met a lot of great clients and had so much fun helping them create beautiful spaces.
Along with fun, we certainly worked around challenges as well. Canceled plans, delayed orders, out of stock items and more. But as I look back, I’m so grateful for how our business grew this year despite a global pandemic. Truthfully, this should have probably been a very bad year for us. We are so thankful that despite the obstacles we faced, we managed to grow this year and we met our goals!! You guys don’t know how excited we are about that little feat.
So we want to thank all of you. Those of you that support us on social media. Those that have worked with us. Those of you who pass along an encouraging word to us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
So we say farewell to 2020, and bring it on to 2021 🙂
