For this project, it was so exciting to work with such good bones – oh the potential. Beautiful flooring, high ceilings, wood beams, amazing natural light – this home needed an interior design refresh to help it become the elevated, modern lodge space it was meant to be. Our clients purchased this property with the goal of transforming it into a cozy, modern getaway lodge where their future VRBO guests could relax and unwind. It was our task to act as a go-between with contractors, source materials, purchase decor, and finally install & style the furniture and decor to complete the vision.
Since it had such good bones, not everything in this home needed a complete remodel; only the bathrooms were completely renovated while the primary bedroom, family room, and main living area all got a much needed refresh. In each of these rooms, we were able to make changes that made each space not only inviting and calm but luxurious.
The main living area was such a dreamy space to design. Stunning wooden beams, expansive windows, and a brick fireplace – with the right additions, we knew we could enhance these strong features. We wanted to bring the outdoors into the space so we focused on wood tones and textures which made the whole room feel cozy, modern, and earthy. Some new furnishings, decor, pillows, and rearranging of furniture completed the transformation. It’s definitely a stunning space where guests can easily relax with friends or family.
The primary bedroom again had a lot of positive elements that needed to be redesigned.
We turned the primary bedroom into a place of retreat. We loved the double windows above the bed; we gave them a more modern feel by having them painted the same color as the wall. Going dark on these walls pushed our clients out of their comfort zone but the results were so worth it. Adding in some cozy-textured bedding and pillows, modern black bedside tables, and elegant gold wall sconces, turned the room into the perfect, peaceful place of escape.
Part of completing the primary bedroom transformation into a retreat involved remodeling the en suite bathroom.
We had the cabinets painted a warm gray to give the space new freshness. We selected new floor tile and shower tile which mimicked carrara marble. We love how these updates together add warmth to the whole space. The finishing touches of the thin black frame on the mirror, black fixtures and hardware, and some updated lighting made the space feel modern and luxurious – exactly what we were going for!
In the lower level, we wanted the family room area to fit with the rest of the home’s elevated lodge style but also be a little more relaxed and playful.
To achieve this, we chose a gray sectional couch with space for lots of guests to gather. The playful vibe created by the patterned carpet, colorful and textured pillows, and dark walls gave the room just the right amount of warmth and fun. So easy to imagine guests sitting together playing a game or having a few snacks in the evening.
Off of the basement family room was another bathroom that needed some attention. The shower was small and dark and the cabinetry outdated.
We decided to make the shower larger and more open as well as update it with dark and rich cabinetry, a new brass framed mirror, and tile everywhere. We loved playing with a variety of tile shapes and colors to bring this space together. Adding in some shelving and improved lighting made it such an easy space for guests to feel comfortable as they get ready for their day or wind down in the evening.
We love how this home transformed into an elevated lodge just perfect for a getaway.
