We were so excited to help our client give their primary bedroom of their historic home a refresh. The bedroom came with some stunning original features like a fireplace, wood floors, large windows, crown molding, and wide trim. It was our task to capitalize on these pieces while adding an updated yet classic style to the space to make it feel brighter and more unified. We love how it all came together in the end!
Here are some before photos – note some of the original features that are so inspiring!
After talking through the client questionnaire and visiting the space for measurements and more discussion of style and functional needs, we set to work to make our client’s needs and our vision come to life. Our client wanted a place to relax and unwind after a long day. For this room refresh, we focused on paint, bedside tables, lighting, curtains, rugs, and mantel decor.
With the fireplace’s ornate features, we wanted to keep the mantle simple yet elegant – the tall, brass-rimmed mirror, black metal candle stick holders, and greenery gave it interest without making the space overly busy. We were able to give this area the balance it needed so that the fireplace could become the stunning focal point our client wanted it to be. We love how now the fireplace is the feature of the room that it deserves to be!
The contrasting trim, as well as the subtle blue ceiling add in more visual interest, all the while staying within the classic style our client gravitated towards.
The curtains, rug, throw pillows, and blankets all added interest through texture and colors, tying the space together. These elements are where many clients feel most overwhelmed. We love to ease this part of the process by making sure all the items complement each other and are placed appropriately in the room to give it the desired feel and look.
We, and our client, were so pleased with how the space turned out! It’s such a refreshing space to unwind in. Who wouldn’t love to relax here after a long day?
