We’ve really enjoyed working on some commercial projects recently. First impressions are so important for businesses; customers can learn so much about what matters to a business the moment they walk into a space. Having a space that is stylish and functional while matching a brand can be challenging. The design aesthetic must not only fit the business’ needs but be welcoming to employees and customers alike.
Our clients manage a local spa and felt the waiting area for their spa did not communicate well what mattered to them. They wanted this space to be serene and welcoming for their clients as they awaited spa services. This particular waiting area presented some challenges to that vision as it was awkwardly shaped, mismatched, and not particularly warm or inviting – we were excited to change that!
During our initial meeting and discussion of the client’s design questionnaire, we learned more about what their particular vision for the space was from colors to seating capacity to elements to promote spa services.
We combined the client’s goals and visions for the space and got to work creating a space that encompassed those aspects. We coordinated the project from start to finish – sourcing, purchasing, communicating with contractors, and installing & styling the decor. It all came together into a beautiful space that we love and so do our clients – and their customers, too!
One feature that desperately needed improving was seating that fit the angular space of the waiting room. We had a custom wood bench crafted by a local carpenter and added a variety of pillows to add color, texture, and comfort to the space. To keep with the earthy vibe, we added a water feature and greenery, bringing in even more serenity while clients waited for their spa treatments. Wall prints with soft pinks and a water color feel complemented the newly painted earthy green walls.
Floating wood shelves allowed the display of art and decor as well as room for displaying spa specials and products making the space functional and visually appealing. We enjoyed collecting and layering the display of art that had an organic, tranquil mood to make the space even more spa-like.
A wooden console table topped with a black arched mirror and natural wood framed art added more visual interest to the space as well as more options for product display. We wanted the customers to experience a tranquil feeling as soon as they walked through the spa doors. We also loved adding in new lighting to elevate the space – pottery-like wall sconces and a textured chandelier added both style and warmth.
What was once an underwhelming corner waiting room, is now a welcoming, peaceful experience for clients of the spa. A place to truly relax!
